ResumoThe ironman triathlon (3.8-km swim, 180-km bike and 42.2-km run) is one of the most difficult single-day endurance events. We previously reported the outstanding athletic ability of a male heart transplant recipient from our clinic. 1 Haykowsky M. Tymchak W. To our knowledge, he is the first heart transplant recipient to complete an ironman triathlon. Impressively, this accomplishment occurred 22 years after transplantation.
