The comparative antigenic characterization of Newcastle disease virus strains isolated in Kenya and Kazakhstan

ResumoTwenty six Newcastle disease viruses — 12 reference strains and 14 strains isolated in Kenya and Kazakhstan — were characterized by means of a large panel of 38 monoclonal antibodies (MAB) directed against all the three envelope proteins: matrix, hemagglutinin-neuraminidase and fusion. The essential distinctions were revealed between the viruses isolated in Kenya and Kazakhstan while the differences amongst the viruses belonging to the same local group were much smaller. The heterogeneity amongst the viruses isolated in Kenya was more expressed as compared to the Kazakhstanian strains. Vingt six virus de la maladie de Newcastle — 12 souches de référence et 14 souches isolées au Kenya et au Kazakhstan — ont été caractérisés grâce à un large éventail de 38 anticorps monoclonaux (AcM) dirigés contre les trois protéines d’enveloppe: matrice, hemagglutinine-neuraminidase et fusion. Des différences essentielles ont été révélées entre les isolats du Kenya et du Kazakhstan alors que les virus appartenant au même groupe géographique ont présenté de faibles différences. L’hétérogénéité des souches de virus isolées au Kenya est plus importante que celle des souches isolées au Kazakhstan.
