Resumo

In this brief text we will show how the Universal Church acts in Brazilian television as a producer of programs or as a simple company that rents out space for television advertising of its products. The text begins by showing that the presence of the Universal Church on Brazilian television is constant since the early of 1980's, following the way religious institutions shapes their speeches into the technology of their time. We will see, also, that in the course of time and experience, Edir Macedo noted that it was more profitable to buy a television channel that rent television space, acquiring the traditional Network Record in an obscure financial transaction. Finally, we will discuss the main television programs of the Universal Church (showed in Recife), as well as the high cost of maintaining a religious programming on television.
