ResumoMix and shake: Lipid packaged dinuclear ruthenium(II,III) complexes of class III mixed-valence state produce a reversible hypochromic effect upon external physical stimuli, such as shaking, due to the arrangement of transition dipole moments. The effect is accompanied by tubular-to-ribbon structural changes (see scheme). Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as "Supporting Information".
