ResumoTHE TERM mystique refers to an attitude of mys ical v ne ation; the conferring of an awesome mythical status upon a person or profession. Those who bear the title Reading Specialist appear to be cloaked in a mystique, not by intent but by default. I sometimes suspect that class room teachers and administrators secretly believe that along with the grade card for a first course in diag nosis, the computer automatically issues Bell, Book and Candle. They have indomitable faith that sending a child to the reading teacher will cure all his learning problems.
