ResumoA symptom-free 73-year-old woman underwent an ultrasound examination of the pelvis during a routine gynecologic evaluation. The study showed a reniform tumor in the right iliac fossa. On physical examination of the abdomen, there was a mobile, hard, painless mass approximately 15 cm in length × 10 cm in diameter in the right lower quadrant. Computed tomography of the abdomen showed a tumor with a liquid interior, adjacent to the distal border of the cecum and suggestive of mucocele of the appendix (Fig 1). Colonoscopy to the cecum showed no abnormalities.
