He is currently Head of Academic Outreach and Research at Australia's National Film and Sound Archive. He has been published in The Oxford Companion to Australian Music, the Companion to Australian Theatre, Australian Dictionary of Biography, Grove, and The Editorial Gaze, and has also published many CDs. He coedited The People's Conventions: Corowa (1893) and Barhurst (1896) and is currently working on the book The New Melba?
