ResumoSince the large-scale outbreak of HFMD in 2008 in China, millions of cases have been reported annually across many provinces, which poses a significant public health threat. Enterovirus (EV)-71 and Coxsackievirus (CV)-A16 are regarded as the predominant etiological agents for HFMD in China and are responsible for more than 80% of HFMD cases.1 Recently, CV-A6 has attracted more attention due to its dominant role in HFMD outbreaks in different countries worldwide.2–10 In China, only sporadic CV-A6 associated cases have been reported, though CV-A6 has been implicated in HFMD for years.
