Resumo

Limited hydrogenation of the chemisorbed surface species from ethene adsorbed at room temperature on an impregnated Pt/SiO2 catalyst gives an infrared spectrum with features expected from the presence of an ethyl group. In interpreting the spectra, and earlier ones obtained on Ni/SiO2, account was taken of the effects of different co-ligands on the infrared spectra of ethyl groups in the model coordination compounds [(C2H5)2Pt(PPh3)2] and [(C2H5)3PtCl]4.
