ResumoThis paper summarizes the author's experience using a computer in marital and family therapy in six major areas: (1) client intake and records, (2) assessment/evaluation/tracking client changes, (3) client feedback, (4) client information and instruction, (5) financial records, and billing (6) other uses including games, communication, statistics and marketing/media. Also discussed is the author's initial purpose for buying a computer, the joys and frustrations of using a computer, and the client, therapist and computer interaction. Finally, the paper summarizes future trends and emphasizes that "high tech" and "high touch" can go hand in hand to contribute to excellent clinical service in a reciprocal, beneficial and synergistic way.
