Las tesis doctorales son uno de los resultados mas visibles de las tareas de investigacion que toda universidad lleva a cabo. Como indicadores resultan utiles para calibrar el potencial de formacion de nuevos investigadores de un sistema, asi como la productividad cientifica de los directores El objetivo principal de este trabajo fue analizar la evolucion de la investigacion espanola en psicologia a traves del estudio de los autores e instituciones que han utilizado la bibliometria para el analisis de la actividad cientifica espanola en psicologia. Los resultados mostraron que la aplicacion de tecnicas bibliometricas es un metodo cada vez mas extendido entre los investigadores espanoles en psicologia. Aunque las primeras tesis fueron realizadas en la Universidad de Valencia, en la decada de los anos 70, son diez las universidades espanolas que utilizan actualmente esta metodologia, destacando entre todas ellas las universidades de Valencia, Madrid (Complutense y UNED) y Granada, por ser donde se han realizado un mayor numero de tesis y hay un mayor numero de profesores que han dirigido tesis doctorales en psicologia utilizando en su realizacion metodos bibliometricos. Doctoral theses are one of the most obvious research outputs for universities. They are considered very useful indicators for assessing the training potential of new researchers and the scientific productivity of PhD supervisors. The main objective of this work is to analyze the evolution of Spanish research in psychology by studying the authors and institutions which have used bibliometrics to analyze Spanish scientific activity in psychology. Results show that the application of bibliometric techniques is an increasingly common method among Spanish researchers in this field. Although the first theses were presented at the University of Valencia in the 70s, there are ten Spanish universities that nowadays use this methodology: the most remarkable examples are the universities of Valencia, Madrid (Computense and UNED) and Granada, since they have the vast majority of theses published and there is a bigger number of teachers who have supervised doctoral theses in psychology using biblio
