Se realizó un estudio experimental a todos los pacientes que acudieron con hifema traumático o posquirúrgico al cuerpo de guardia y a la consulta de Oftalmología del Hospital General Calixto García del municipio Plaza de la Revolución en el período de diciembre de 2008 a agosto de 2009, con el objetivo de demostrar la efectividad del uso de medicamentos homeopáticos en dichas patologías. Los medicamentos homeopáticos usados fueron el árnica y el phosphorus a las potencias 6 y 30 ch, respectivamente. La muestra estuvo constituida por 36 pacientes con edades comprendidas entre 15 y 70 años. Obtuvimos resolución de la magnitud de la manifestación ocular en las primeras 48 h y resolución total en los primeros 4 días en los pacientes tratados con homeopatía, de más del 50%. No hubo complicaciones durante la aplicación del tratamiento, ni fue necesario el tratamiento quirúrgico en dichos pacientes. An experimental study was carried out in all patients with traumatic or postsurgical hyphema who presented to the emergency unit or ophthalmology department of the General Calixto García Hospital of the Plaza de La Revolución municipality between December 2008 and August 2009. The objective was to determine the effectiveness of the use of homeopathic remedies in these entities. The homeopathic medications used were arnica and phosphorus at 6 ch and 30 ch respectively. The sample was composed of 36 patients (aged 15 to 70 years old) divided into two groups: one was administered homeopathic plus conventional treatment and the other was administered conventional treatment only. More than 50% resolution of the magnitude of the ocular manifestation occurred in the first 48 hours, and total resolution occurred during the first 4 days in homeopathically-treated patients. There were no complications during the treatment and no surgical treatment was required.
