Resumo

We have greatly enjoyed reading the recently published manuscript by AA. Gooshah et al. [ [1] Gooshah Gir A.A. Namdar H. Emaratkar E. et al. Avicenna's view on the prevention of thrombosis. Int J Cardiol. 2013 Jun 5; 166: 274-275 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (17) Google Scholar ] who related their view on Avicenna's (Ibn Sina) theory of humors on the prevention of thrombosis. It is interesting to know that in one of the most prominent figures in the history of medicine Avicenna himself had comments in his Al-Qanun on the causes of obstructive cardiovascular diseases [ 2 Tabei S. Riazi A. Medical sciences in the third millennium: an Avicennian approach. Iran Red Crescent Med J. 2009; 11: 4-9 Google Scholar , 3 Hojjati A. Vahdani A. Health care accreditation: the past, present, and future in the Middle East. Iran Red Crescent Med J. 2010; 12: 80-81 Google Scholar ]. But, unfortunately, the inconsistent terms and concepts found in this manuscript could result in the miscommunication of the readers. In their article, the authors only emphasize Sauda and Safra which have important roles in blood coagulation in the circulatory system — to decrease blood circulation and cause thrombus formation. In Avicenna's medicine, Sauda clinically divides into two categories — normal black Sauda and abnormal Sauda, wherein the abnormal Sauda usually plays an important role in blood coagulation in the circulatory system [ 4 Choopani R.
