Resumo

1. The value of tissue culture as research material is discussed. 2. Experiments are described showing the effect of gamma radiation from 3·6 gr. of radium on cell division in vitro. 3. These experiments show that the biological efficiency of gamma radiation as measured by this particular response is a function of the intensity of radiation. The biological effect increases with increase of intensity up to a certain critical value. Beyond this point the dose of radiation required to produce a given effect remains practically constant.
