In 1992 the Moustached Antpitta Grallaria alleni was feared extinct. We present the first records of the species from Ecuador, discuss new data on the unique subspecies G. a. andaquiensis as well as its taxonomic position, describe the previously unknown vocalizations of this species and compare the latter with those of several congeners.
