Resumo

The Bedford Canyon Formation consisting of silty argillite and graywacke with minor amounts of pebble conglomerate and limestone, crops out in the Santa Ana Mountains. It is unconformably overlain by the Santiago Peak Volcanics, and both formations are intruded by early Late Cretaceous granitic rocks of the southern California batholith. Previous workers have assigned a Triassic age to the Bedford Canyon Formation based on fragmentary fossils. Additional fossils recently collected included ammonites of Callovian Age (early Late Jurassic) and brachiopods of indefinite age-these brachiopods include a new genus that may be a link between Halorella of the Upper Triassic and Peregrinella of the Lower Cretaceous.
