Synthesis and characterization of novel inorganic/organometallic compounds

Ein eigenartiges Molekül mit einem ungepaarten Elektron: Durch Reduktion eines kationischen Borans mit einem α-Methyliumzentrum entsteht ein neutrales Radikal, das röntgenographisch und EPR-spektroskopisch untersucht wurde. Die berechnete Spindichte des Radikals (rechts) zeigt – in Einklang mit der ungewöhnlich kurzen B-C-Bindung – eine erhebliche Lokalisierung des ungepaarten Elektrons in einem polarisierten B-C-π-Bindungsorbital.
