ResumoThe complex ion trans-[Ru(NH3)4P(OEt)3(H2O)]3+ was obtained through electrochemical and chemical oxidation of the corresponding Ru(II) complex ion. The compound trans-[Ru(NH3)4P(OEt)3(H2O)]-(CF3SO3)3 was isolated and characterized by means of micro-analysis, cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. The ion trans[Ru(NH3)4P(OEt)3(H2O)]3+ decomposes in aqueous solution according to 4Ru(III)⇒3Ru(II)+ Ru(VI). The decay rate of the Ru(III) complex ion concentration is inversely proportional to the hydrogen ion solution concentration (CH+=1.0×10−1 M, kobs=4×10−5 s−1; CH+=10−12 M, kobs=3.3 s−1; 25 °C, μ=0.3 NaCF3COO).
