Resumo

Getting indole terpenes into shape: Genetic analysis, pathway dissection, and heterologous reconstitution provide first insights into bacterial indolosesquiterpenoid biosynthesis and unveil the involvement of a new type of terpene cyclase and an indole oxygenase in the formation of indosespene, xiamycin, and sespenine ring systems. Furthermore, heterologous pathway expression led to the discovery of CC- and CN-linked xiamycin dimers. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as ”Supporting Information”.
