ResumoThe invention presented here is to embed the helical antenna inside an ejector of a Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) carrier. The detail dimension of this antenna has been well designed to operate at the frequency 2.45 GHz, which is employed for the wireless LAN application. A low-cost electromagnetic simulation package-WIPL-D, is used to simulate this complex electromagnetic environment where the carrier metal is modeled as well, in addition to the helical antenna itself. Measurements both of return loss and radiation patterns are made too to have a comparison with the results of simulation and to prove the design thoughts given by this paper. As a final evaluation, a PCMCIA carrier with the present design is installed into a Tablet PC to have a complete measurement.
