ResumoMerely by chance , says Paul Lauterbur, one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine in 2003, were NMR imaging techniques his main research focus for many years. In his Nobel Lecture, he describes important facets of his life and his scientific carrier that led him from silicones to the clinical application of NMR spectroscopy and later to the question of how chemistry can help in explaining biology.
