Rubel as principal investigator and Garl W. O'Nell as co-principal. This study constitutes a part of a larger cross-cultural and interdisciplinary study of stress factors relating to susto. Although they are in no way to be held responsible for the material reported in this paper, I wish to express gratitude to Arthur J. Rubel, David L. Dodge, and John Paddock for their stimulating responses to the manuscript at various stages in its preparation.
