ResumoBased on the principle of measuring the rise in a capillary of infinitely wide bore (a vertical plate), an apparatus is described which allows measurements of contact angles in the temperature range from −80°C to + 80°C. In the present paper, measurements of the system PTFE/n-decane in the range from −20°C to +35°C are reported. The three well-known polymorphic transitions of PTFE in this temperature interval could be detected in the temperature dependence of wetting. The effect of changing the degree of crystallinity of the polytetrafluoroethylene specimens is investigated.
