Resumo

Rate constants have been determined from Stern-Volmer plots and from comparison of curves of growth for the emission bands with the standard curve which applies in absence of quenching. New results are presented for quenching of the lowest vibrational levels of N+2(B2∑+u), N2O+(A2∑+u), and CO+2(A2IIu), by NO, C2H6, O2, N2O, CO2, CO, H2, N2, Ar, and He. The excited states of N+2 and N2O+, unlike those of CO2+, are not significantly quenched by helium. Comparison of results for different ions with the same quencher indicates that specific chemical interactions are superimposed on the basic charge-transfer quenching mechanism.
