ResumoABSTRACT Feline calicivirus was isolated from eight often cats with chronic stomatitis but not from 10 healthy cats kept under similar conditions. Tests for feline leukaemia viral antigen failed to detect evidence of this infection. The age of affected cats ranged from 1.5 to 11 years with a mean of 5.7 years. Treatment with corticosteroids, megestrol acetate and tooth extraction resulted in clinical improvement but in some cases the condition recurred when treatment was finished.
