ResumoConcentrations of magnesium were measured in solutions in contact with magnesium chlorite, calcite, and quartz, under carbon dioxide pressures of 5 and 65 atm, and at temperatures from 190 to 300/sup 0/C. Magnesium concentrations were of the order of 0.5 to 1 ppM at 200/sup 0/C and 0.02 to 0.05 ppM at 300/sup 0/C. Comparison is made between values of a/sub Mg//a/sub H/sup 2// from the experimental solutions and natural high-temperature waters.
