Four diagnosis of environmental sanity situation were made in rural sectors of 3 communes of province of Nuble (Portezuelo, San Ignacio and Quillon) and other in the commune of Maria Pinto, province of Melipilla from July 1992 to September 1993. The information was obtained applying and inquest to 149 houses about basic sanity, as water supply; excrement disposal systems, garbage disposal, presence of rodents and insects. A drinking water sample of each one of these houses was taken for further bacteriological analysis. Informnation about demography, educational level, quality of houses, dogs and cats population was obtained, too. The results obtained allow its to determine a deficient entivironmental sanity situation in these rural sectors, mainly in relation to the basic sanity.
