Heart Rhythm. 2007; 4: 439-442 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (94) Google Scholar observed an increased incidence of subacute perforation or dislodgement of implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) leads associated with a specific manufacturer. If the analysis were motivated by a suspected difference, this would introduce a potential bias in the results and result in conclusions that might not be applicable to all centers. A bias would not exist if the authors did not suspect a difference before their analysis. In either case, their observations and concerns are valid. Moreover, their conclusions are qualified appropriately, and the authors should be commended for bringing these observations forward.
