ResumoThe anodic oxidation of sulphur dioxide, in concentrated aqueous solutions of sulphuric acid, on anodes of palladium, palladium coated graphite and palladium coated Ebonex®, platinised titanium, stainless steel, lead dioxide, glassy carbon and impregnated graphite and non-impregnated graphite has been investigated by linear sweep voltammetry. The effects of sulphuric acid concentration and temperature on the oxidation kinetics is reported. The palladium, platinised titanium, lead dioxide, graphite and carbon electrodes showed suitable activity towards sulphur dioxide oxidation.
