Jill Manthorpe is Professor of Social Work and Director of the Social Care Workforce Research Unit at King's College London. Dr Martin Stevens is a Research Fellow in the Social Care Workforce Research Unit, King's College London. Dr Shereen Hussein is a Senior Research Fellow in the Social Care Workforce Research Unit, King's College London. The authors have undertaken a series of empirical studies into social work education and the social work workforce using a variety of methodological approaches, including work on student progression, international social workers, and agency workers. In collaboration with other research teams, other research they have undertaken into social work includes work on the introduction of the social work degree in England, the experiences of newly qualified social workers, social workers' workloads, and social work practices.
