ResumoThe acronym POEMS was coined by Bardwick et al1 in 1980 and describes the main features of this pathologic entity including polyneuropathy, organomegaly, endocrinopathy and elevated levels of a monoclonal protein in the serum and urine.2 Skin changes are generally nonspecific and include hyperpigmentation, skin thickening, and scleroderma-like changes, among others.3-10 We describe a patient with POEMS syndrome whose cutaneous manifestations markedly improved after phototherapy with UVA1 (340-400 nm).
