Resumo

This is a critique of two articles by Professors Doob and Foltz describing the conception and execution of a group dynamics workshop for Belfast inhabitants which took place in Scotland in 1972. The theoretical background, practical execution, and subsequent social and political impact of the workshop are assessed. The authors consider that the goals of the exercise were ill-defined and mutually contradictory. Because of this, the workshop was ineffective in its own terms and harmful to many of the participants.
