Resumo

This paper reports the experiment conducted at the State School for Primary Education Angelina SalzanoVieira da Cunha, in the municipality of Cachoeira do Sul / RS, which had as main objective to develop, alongwith the students, activities that used farming techniques. Methodologically the work is structured instages. The first step refers to the theoretical foundation, which supported the definition of the conceptsguiding the research. Later, we developed the activities with a group of 7th grade of elementary schoolduring a semester in order to educate, sensitize and prepare students for the issues agroecology, ecologicaland environmental, adapting the experience of integrated practices (related to the use and managementadequate soil) and organic waste. The planting of vegetables, herbs and spices were important to developthe capacity for teamwork, cooperative spirit and responsibility, while emphasized the importance ofhygiene, respect, soil recovery and alternative power. The activities showed good results, since thestudents were motivated and engaged in the practice of management of the garden. Values exceeded theagroecological built school environment because the students brought the knowledge to their homesspreading the idea of sustainable agriculture for their community.
