ResumoA structure analogous to that of the rare mineral montregianite, a sodium yttrium silicate (see picture), is displayed by AV-5, the first example of a microporous framework cerium silicate. AV-5, which was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions from mixtures containing sodium silicate solution and CeIII salts, has potential for applications in the field of optoelectronics.
