ResumoEDITORIAL COMMENT It is concluded that in the vast majority of patients with colitis, once the disease has developed, the mucosa remains permanently abnormal whether symptoms are present or not, a fact which may be related to the tendency to relapse and to the increased tendency to carcinoma of the colon.
