Resumo

Inland is the subject of this article and makes the crossing between the historical speech and the fictional speech, using for this thinkers of the Brazilian historiography and the Seara vermelha novel (1946) of the writer Jorge Amado, to fulfill the proposal.Owner of an important productionin the history of Brazilian literature, Jorge Amado dedicated to great part of its fiction the varied subjects, but having as central object the special Bahia and in the City of Salvador.Therefore, of the little that explores the subject inland in the Brazilian history, Seara vermelha is the novel that evidences the known space historically as hinterland, word associated drought, hunger, misery.After presenting theoretical bases of the discussion, we make an exposition of the pertinent historiography to the subject hinterland for, finally, identifying in the amadiano novel the representations about inland.
