Resumo

We present a global fit to neutral-current data (including improved parity-violation data), MW and the last year LEP results in the standard model and its minimal gauge extensions. In the standard model, for mH = 100 GeV [mH = 1 TeV] and αs (MZ) = 0.12mt = 112−23+22 GeV [mt = 140−21+19 GeV] (1σ). For gauge extensions with a minimal (arbitrary) Higgs doublet content, the MZ′ lower bound improves (with respect to our previous analysis) by about 200 (50) GeV. In the case with an arbitrary Higgs doublet content, the bound on the Z0Z′ mixing is reduced by a factor of about 4. No data set seems to favour a new Z′, meaning that present Z′ limits are governed by the data error size only. The relevance of the different data in the fits is discussed, as well as the correlation between MZ′ and mt,H bounds. Present limits on magic observables and mixing parameters are given.
