En 1898, durante una breve estadia de dos familias indigenas en Buenos Aires, Roberto Lehmann-Nitsche documento un vocabulario de la lengua selk’nam, que reviso y amplio posteriormente en el transcurso de un viaje de campo a Tierra del Fuego realizado a principios de 1902. Para la elicitacion el antropologo aleman tomo como base el cuestionario linguistico publicado pocos anos antes por Georg von der Gabelentz, y sumo a este formato enunciados y textos breves en selk’nam, asi como anotaciones etnograficas y metalinguisticas que redacto en aleman. En el articulo se proporciona acceso a esta fuente, que habia sido publicada por Lehmann-Nitsche solo de modo parcial. Se describe la situacion en que se produjo el registro, se analiza el contenido del vocabulario y se exponen los mecanismos de que se valio Lehmann-Nitsche para recontextualizar los datos en la publicacion de 1913. Su tarea de documentacion es tambien entramada con la de otros agentes que indagaron sobre el selk’nam en el periodo entre los siglos XIX-XX.AbstractIn 1898 two indigenous families stayed for few monthes in Buenos Aires; in that situation Robert Lehmann-Nitsche documented a vocabulary of Selk’nam language, that was verified and enlarged in 1902 during a fieldtrip in Fire Land. The source follows the basic schema of the linguistic questionnaire published by Georg von der Gabelentz few years earlier; the German anthropologist also included a few sentences and short texts in Selk’nam as well as ethnographic and metalinguistic remarks written in German. The article provides access to this source, which so far had only been partially published by Lehmann-Nitsche. We describe the context of the survey,we analyse issues related to the vocabulary content and we state the mechanisms used by Lehmann Nitsche for the recontextualization of the data previously gathered in the edition he made in 1913.His documentation task is also connected with those developed by other agents who researched on selk’nam in the period between the XIX and XX centuries.
