ResumoAbstract One hundred and forty five specimens of Percichthys trucha (Cuvier and Valenciennes) were examined between December 1986 and September 1987 to search for nematode parasites on fishes from Valdivia river basin (between 39°30'‐40°00'S, 73°30'‐71o45'W), Chile. A new nematode species: Camallanus corderoi is described. Percichthys trucha is a new host for Contracaecum sp. Prevalence and intensity of C. corderoi and Contracaecum sp. infections showed significative differences between some fish biotopes. No influence of sex of hosts on the infections by both species was observed. However, standard length of fishes, had an influence on the prevalence and intensity of C. corderoi infection, which were higher in longer hosts. Infrapopulations of C. corderoi and Contracaecum sp. showed, in general, overdispersion in P. trucha.
