Resumo

Quechuan texts from Laraos (Yauyos)This collection of nine texts transcribed in the Laraos Quechuan dialect include a legend relating the origin of the present-day community with a reference to the ritual sacrifice of newly born children in ancient times, a symbolic representation of exchange between the Andes and the coast, descriptions of customs and beliefs still practiced in the region and a folktale forming part of the fox cycle. These texts are a rare testimony of North Yauyos Quechua which is only spoken today by a few elderly people.
