Resumo

Iron(II) and iron(III) complexes of pyrophosphate can be determined simultaneously at pH 9. The peak potentials used were −0.8 and 0.5 V for Fe(III) and Fe(II), respectively. Linear calibration plots over the range 10−6–10−3 mol l−1 were obtained. Detailed iron-couple cyclic voltammetric studies, sample handling procedures, possible interferences and applications of the method to real samples are described. Detection limits of 10−8 mol l−1 and a relative standard deviation of <4% (n=14) were achieved at a concentration of 1×10−6 mol l−1 for both iron species.
