Resumo

In Greece, the disparity in income between the farm and the non-farm sector has been decreasing in relative terms in the 1961–1981 period. This is shown by the overall rising trend of the ‘disparity ratio’ or ‘relative income’, which is usually used as a measure of this disparity. The trend in this ratio, together with the trend in the factors composing it (i.e. ‘relative agricultural productivity’ and ‘the agricultural terms of trade’) is too strong to be significantly influenced by accession to the EC. This view is further supported by developments in the short post-membership period.
