ResumoNot an insoluble sulfide, but the homoleptic gold complex 1, which is stable without any auxiliary ligands, is formed in the reaction of bis(acetylacetonato)gold(I) with hydrogen sulfide [Eq. (a)]. Complexes of this type are of interest as intermediates in the catalytic hydrodesulfuration of organosulfur compounds. Counterion: [(Ph3P)2N]+.
