Resumo

Recent evidence has shown that rotator cuff pathology, in most patients, is due to primary intrinsic tendon degeneration. This degeneration leads to a build up of tendinosis at the insertion of the rotator cuff. Arthroscopic debridement of this tendinosis tissue without acromioplasty has been shown to have long-term efficacy in the treatment of "impingement syndrome" (rotator cuff symptoms in the absence of a full-thickness tear). The details of this technique are described.
