Resumen: El premio Nobel de Quimica de 2008 ha sido concedido a Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie y Roger Y. Tsien, por sus respectivas contribuciones cientificas, que han convertido una curiosidad de la naturaleza, como es la capacidad de emitir luz verde de una medusa, en una poderosisima herramienta hoy en dia ampliamente utilizada en investigacion biomedica y biotecnologica. Palabras clave: Premio Nobel, Proteina Verde Fluorescente (GFP), localizacion y trafico intracelular de proteinas, interacciones proteina-proteina, investigacion biomedica. Abstract: The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008 has been awarded to Osamu Shimomura, Martin Chalfie and Roger Y. Tsien, by their respective scientific contributions, which have transformed a curiosity of Nature, such as the ability of a jelly fish to emit green light, into a powerful tool nowadays vastly used in biomedical and biotechnological research.
