ResumoIn a cultural universe there are rules that allow the coexistence in the social environment and culture involves the entire daily life. One of the functions of culture is to allow adaptation of the individual to society, since it is through cultural heritage that communication is established, not only by language, but also forms of behavior in which individuals take on a certain identity. It is believed that identity is constructed from the culture and this, in turn, are expressed by linguistic reference. This article aims to carry out an analysis of the relationship between identity, language and culture, from a study of the lexicon regarding some characteristics of food present in the novel The House of the Seven Women, Leticia Wierzchowski, intending to observe the contributions of this aspect for the construction of the state’s regional identity as portrayed in the work.
