Abstract In this paper the currently available software we know for group sequential and adaptive designs is briefly reviewed. Stand‐alone packages as well as modules within software packages or programming languages exist. New software developments for adaptive designs enable the user to perform data dependent design adaptations while controlling the Type I error rate. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
