Resumo

Abstract The effect of ventilation on indoor temperature control, thermal comfort, outdoor unit energy consumption, and efficiency of the multi-split variable refrigerant volume (VRV) system is investigated in a field test under varying outdoor conditions. It is observed through the experiments that ventilation does not affect the indoor temperature control of the multi-split VRV system; instead it increases the indoor humidity ratio, resulting in a less comfortable indoor environment. Even though ventilation increases the outdoor unit energy consumption due to the ventilation load, it does not have a considerable effect on the efficiency of the multi-split VRV system.
