Resumo

This article aims to analyze how the biblical text, the media and the fundamentalism constitute themselves as obstacles to a critical investigation of the history of Israel. We also intend to denounce the conservatism that prevailed in the studies about ancient Israel so that for a long time what has been observed is the existence of a biblical history of Israel and not exactly an academic history which, to some extent, has distanced the ancient Israel from professional discussions in the sphere of ancient eastern history. Nevertheless we aim to present new horizons of research besides demonstrating how the exegetical and archaeological research impacted the relevant historiography for ancient Israeli society.
