ResumoIn this article we address the patrimonialization of two inpatient institutions for lepers treatment in Brazil during the first half of XXth Century: Hospital Colonia Itapua (RS state) and Hospital Colonia Santa Teresa (SC state). We analyse the conditions which allowed such a sideline subject as leprosy to transcend the institution’s walls and to be adopted by discourses on patrimony.
